A Foodie's Guide to New York City's Best Eats

New York City is a melting pot of cultures, and its food scene is just as diverse and exciting. Whether you're a local or a first-time visitor, there's no shortage of options to explore and something for everyone. In this week's post, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite spots that I would go to time and time again during my semester abroad. One thing to note is that New York is constantly changing and evolving, there's a beauty in that but it does mean you have to always be ready to research for the hottest spots!

1. Apollo Bagels

I would recommend there tomato and cream cheese on an everything bagel.  Definitely wouldn't go at the weekend as the queues can get very long.

2. L'industries

Their menu is constantly changing but any of the pizzas you order will be amazing, however, prepare for a queue if you're going at prime times such as lunch or dinner.

3. Roey's Happy Hour

Monday-Friday 4pm to 6pm; the pizzas are $7 and cocktails are $5

Such a lovely area of New York (West Village) and the perfect place to catch up with friends after work. Would definitely book a table to secure a spot.

4. Mamo

Went to this Italian restaurant for my birthday and had the most amazing time. It had such a great atmosphere, with an Italian and French Riviera interior, with really good Italian food at a reasonable price. Again- always book when going for dinner in NYC!

5. Baby Blues Diner (brunch)

Amazing American brunch in Brooklyn with a Greek twist to the cuisine. I loved their savoury and sweet options so maybe share a couple plates if you are only visiting. I learned my lesson the hard way not to go at the weekends as it's a minimum of two-hour wait.

6. Milano Market's Chicken Caeser Wrap

Incredible Italian deli and market. So many options but I would highly recommend the Chicken Caeser Wrap, but if you can go more than once I would also recommend the chicken Milanese sandwich.

7. Levian Bakery

Honestly had to treat myself to a sweet treat here once and week and loved all of their cookies and would recommend any of them.

8. Fellini Coffee

A few locations are around Manhattan that are in lovely areas and worth a sit-down, especially if the weather is nice. Also a large selection of coffeees and drinks.

9. Thai Diner

I went for brunch and loved all the options but never got a table for dinner so plan in advance (but if I could I would).

10. Ice Cream- Cafe Panna or Salt and Straw

Both are excellent choices, especially for a sunny day when you're craving something sweet. Cafe Panna often has a line, but it's definitely worth the wait to try their signature panna cotta ice cream, complete with any free toppings you like. On the other hand, Salt and Straw offers a variety of unique and inventive flavours, and you can sample as many as you'd like before making your choice.

Love, Aria
