Fresh State of Mind
As spring has sprung it’s the perfect time to rest and reset your social battery in time for a busy summer ahead. In this week’s post, I am going to share with you the five areas I focus on when I take time to prioritise myself after or before a busy month.
1. Reset your Bedtime
Sleep is essential for remaining healthy and happy, especially when you haven't been busy. When I have been socialising more than usual, I will often feel the effects, so during my 'reset week' I will try and rest as much as I can, and get a couple early nights to catch up on my sleep.
2. Home-cooked Meals
Nutritional meals will help you regain your strength and all the vitamins you may need…as well as save you money. Spend some time planning your meals for the week and take yourself on a supermarket run to start the beginning of the week with some ease.
3. Write a to-do list
When I am busy socialising I will often forget about everything else, including home chores and work. To battle the ongoing list I will sit down and write a to-do list. One focused on uni work and then another for all the rest, this makes it clear to me what I need to get done without it being overwhelming.
4. Move your body
This can be the last thing you want to do - especially after a night out but I find it clears my mind and makes me feel productive even if I go straight back to bed afterwards. Even if it's a walk or yoga, getting yourself out of the house and moving, your body will thank you.
5. Stay in
You may feel pressure to go out as a student on the weekend but this is a reminder that you don’t need to go out if you aren't feeling up for it. It’s perfectly fine to stay in and watch a film, especially if you are tired, and it will probably be helpful in the long term to gain back energy.
Love, Aria
