What Nobody Talks About.

I am off travelling shortly and thought it was only fitting to write a blog post before I go about what I learnt on my first solo trip. Especially at the moment, there is a lot about backpacking but I also believe that there is a lot that you don't know and can only figure out on route. Although I spent six months abroad travelling with friends and then solo there are tips and tricks I still don't know and will probably learn this time around.

In this week's post, I will share with you six extra tips that no one mentioned but everyone had.

1. The Plastics

I would highly recommend bringing tuperwear when travelling. I didn't need this so much when in Asia, however, I bought one when out in Australia because I often had left overs when cooking dinner or took a pack lunch out to save money.

When travelling Asia I brought a waterbottle, however, due to the humidity and the fact that you have to buy water in plastic bottles, my waterbottle didn't last long. Whereas, in Australia it became very handy so these things are very dependent on where you are. Therefore I would recommend still bringing on with you to save money and from using single use plastics but bring one that's light wieght and small so it doesnt take up room and you wont mind throwing away at one stage.

2. Just Buy the Packing Cubes

Packing cubes are not only handy for eliminating excess space but also for organising your rucksack. Before I got some of the cubes I would have to open my bag everytime I wanted something, however, with the cubes I made sure nothing was lost and everything had a dedicated cube, from; tops, bottoms, party clothes, swimsuits, underwear and socks.

3. Always Need More Power than You Think

During your trip there will be times where you wont have acess to a charging point but you need your phone so always pack a portable charger for that extra power. Especially in Asia on those overnight buses and trains when I wanted to track the route or watch some tv I made sure that I had a fully charged power bank so it never became an issue.

4. Flip flops Save Feet

I would recommend never going into the hostel bathrooms without wearing something on your feet. I brought sandels and flipflops on my travels and mainly used the flipflops to wash because often the showers are not that clean.

5. Extra Bags

When travelling around more developed countries you will probably not be eating out that much to save money so will be using the hostel's kitchen to make meals. What no one talks about is that you need a bag to keep all your ingredients in so nothing gets stolen. I started my trip in South East Asia so didnt need to make my own food because going out was cheaper but when I got to australia I had to buy a tote bag to store everything. From this experience I would recommend buying a bag that zips up or maybe even one thats a cooler so your ingredents stay fresh and secure when moving around.

6. Eye Mask

I would definitely bring an eye mask in your hand luggage because it will save you during the overnight flights and long- hall journeys. I was recommended to bring earplugs but found the eye mask much more useful and easier to find!

Have a great trip and I hope these tips help you!

Love,
