How to be more body confident!

Being a teenager can be really hard, especially when we are surrounded by 'perfect people' all over social media! In this weeks blog, I wanted to raise awareness about body image as its something that a lot of people don't talk about but struggle with. I have listed a few tips on how to be more confident and comfortable, some of these tips I have been given from my mother, some of them I have taken from the podcasts and some of these tips I have learnt over time. I would also like to clarify that I am not always confident with my body, I have down days like everyone else, however, I have found that with these tips I have learnt to embrace my insecurity and love myself and my body!

1. UNFOLLOW PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOU FEEL BAD - it's important to surround yourself with people that you won't feel that you need to compare yourself with, don't follow people that photoshop their bodies or make you feel any less amazing!

2. SAY THREE THINGS YOU LIKE ABOUT YOURSELF EVERYDAY- Replace the negative for the positive, you are your own best friends and you have to treat yourself with kindness. Saying things that you like about yourself or feature you think are important, this will boost your confidence and make you appreciate your feature more!

3. DON'T LOOK IN MIRRORS IF NOT NECESSARY- I think looking in mirrors all the time just makes you compare yourself even more than you did before, this tip doesn't work for everyone but it did for me!

4. LISTEN TO PODCASTS THAT MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD - I have been loving listening to podcasts that are positive and make me feel good, my personal favourite is Growing Up and Sometimes Down by Olivia and Evie. In this podcast, they talk about things they have struggled with and they answer questions that other teenagers wouldn't want to ask a parent.

5. DON'T RESTRICT YOURSELF - Just because you ate a lot yesterday doesn't mean that you shouldn't eat today- "it's important to fuel your body and brain" as my mother likes to remind me. Its also important to treat yourself, I have something sweet in the evenings after school as a way to relax. I know a lot of people struggle with this and it's important to get the right balance to feel good on the inside!

6. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE- Just like being kind to yourself, you should also have friends that make you feel good as well! Your friends shouldn't make you feel less than you are, you should feel comfortable around them to be yourself!

7. TALK TO SOMEONE YOU TRUST- It's very important to talk to people when you are feeling unworthy or sad, if that is a friend or a family member, they know you the best and will remind you that you are worth it even if you don't think you are!

8. WEAR CLOTHES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL AMAZING!- I believe that if you wear clothes that make you feel amazing that will radiate and make you look amazing! If that's buying a new pair of jeans or a cute jumper -go for it!

Hope this helps!

Lots of Love
