Byron Bay Baby!

My final spot on my East Coast trip was Byron Bay. This had to be my favourite place to visit with its barefoot attitude, hippie cafes and amazing beaches. I spent a week in the town and found that it was plenty of time to get a hang of the area and know the places to go. In this week's post, I will share my favourite parts with you so you can skip the searching and go straight to the good parts!

I would highly recommend staying at WakeUp Byron Bay; it felt more like a hotel. Located right opposite a small exclusive beach, with a few restaurants and free yoga every morning. Although it was a little further than the other hostels from the centre it felt more peaceful and the free minibus made it easy to go to and from town.

Skydive

This has to be a big highlight- skydiving with SkyDive Australia. This was my first time skydiving and although it was expensive I would have done it all over again! The whole process was very organised and made it really easy for me to feel safe. I got picked up from my hostel and driven to the location where I was instructed on the procedures when up in the air. I met my partner for the dive who was very reassuring and made the whole process very fun.

Surfing

Every day I tried to spend some time practising my surfing skills and treated myself afterwards to a coffee.  If you are spending some time in Byron I would definitely recommend paying for one of the surf classes as they help you tackle the harsher waves and take you to more remote locations with fewer surfers out.

Kayak

I didn't get to do the Kayaking, however, a big attraction for Byron is the ocean kayaking, which can also be seen in the Inbetweeners 2 Movie. There is a guarantee to see dolphins and if you aren't lucky enough they will take you out the following day for free.

Roadtrips

As well as spending time in the town, we were also able to rent a car from our hostel and explore areas around Byron. We took a trip to a local waterfall and to Nimbin- a small hippie village notoriously known for marijuana. I would definitely recommend going down there for an afternoon and getting the 'trippy' pizza and stopping by Kim for a tarot card reading!

Lighthouse

Everyone must do the lighthouse walk when in Byron. You can either do the walk at sunrise or at sunset, however, I was recommended to do the sunrise walk because Byron is in the southeast of Australia the sunrise is much more impressive and you may even get lucky enough to see dolphins. It is definitely an early rise- 5am walk-up call and then the walk-up takes about an hour and the walk-down is another hour. It's definitely a workout but worth just watching the golden sunrise from the dark sea and the views do stop at the top the whole walk is breathtaking.

Piano Bar

If you have been to Byron everyone knows about the infamous Piano Bar- every night (but go on a Wednesday) two pianists play requested songs in the middle of a club. Everyone gets so involved which makes the whole thing such a fun experience (especially if your song gets played)!

Enjoy your time in Byron!

Love,

Aria XO
