Books that Will Keep You Hooked!
Since I’ve spent the last 6 months travelling I have had a lot of time for reading which meant I have had time to catch up with my reading list. In this week’s post I want to share my book recommendations that are specifically for reading on holiday or travels. Each of these books are very different, however kept me hooked and engaged throughout so cannot recommended enough!
1. It Ends with Us and It Starts with Us
“It Ends with Us is a book that follows a girl named Lily who has just moved and is ready to start her life after college. Lily then meets a guy named Ryle and she falls for him. As she is developing feelings for Ryle, Atlas, her first love, reappears and challenges the relationship between Lily and Ryle.”
“Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas, It Starts with Us picks up where the epilogue of It Ends with Us left off. Revealing more about Atlas’s past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love.”
Rating: 8/10
I really enjoyed this collection- a great romance but a bit repetitive within the two books!
2. Seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo
“This hugely popular tale centers around reclusive Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo, who chooses an unknown reporter, Monique Grant, to tell her life story.”
Rating: 10/10
One of my favourite books ever! Never expected the book to have such a unique story like this and couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards.
3. Malibu rising
“Malibu Rising is a story about one unforgettable night in the life of a family: the night they each have to choose what they will keep from the people who made them . . . and what they will leave behind.”
Rating: 9/10
Runner up from my favourite book. It’s all about sun, surf and sea so it’s perfect for a beach holiday.
4. Everything I know about love
“The debut book by English author, podcaster, and journalist Dolly Alderton. It is a memoir about her teens and twenties, as she navigates romantic love, female friendship, self-discovery, and self-actualization.”
Rating: 9/10
Couldn’t put this down, such a relatable story and laughed the whole time.
5. Ghost
“Friendships are fading, ex-boyfriends are moving on and, worse, everyone's moving to the suburbs. There's no solace to be found in her family, with a mum who's caught in a baffling mid-life makeover and a beloved dad who is vanishing in slow-motion into dementia.”
Rating: 8/10
Another book by Dolly Alderson, which means you won’t stop laughing! The book will keep you hooked the whole time.
6. I’m glad my mum died
“A heartbreaking and hilarious memoir by iCarly and Sam & Cat star Jennette McCurdy about her struggles as a former child actor—including eating disorders, addiction, and a complicated relationship with her overbearing mother—and how she retook control of her life.”
Rating: 7/10
I didn’t want to laugh but you just had to! A sad story that manages to entertain and shock you throughout.
7. Presley and Me
“Elvis and Me is a 1985 biography written by Priscilla Presley with Sandra Harmon. In the book, Priscilla talks about meeting Elvis Presley, their marriage, and the factors and issues that led to the couple's divorce.”
Rating: 8/10
Couldn’t stop reading about Elvis’s marriage, and was shocked by many parts of Priscilla Presley’s life with Elvis. If you liked the Elvis movie then it’s a must read to get the other perspective.
8. Daisy Jones and the Six
“Daisy Jones & The Six is about a band formed in the 1970's. Daisy is a young beautiful teenager living with hippy parents who really don't care much about what she does. She comes and goes as she pleases, becomes a regular at nightclubs, and starts getting into the groupie scene of sex, drugs, and Rock n Roll.”
Rating: 7/10
The books feels like your involved in a band; a romance with a twist of drugs, sex and rock and roll!
Love, Aria
