Welcome 2023

HAPPY NEW YEARS! Another year has gone by and every New Year’s Eve I love to share some of my goals/ resolutions for the upcoming year. This year specifically I have learnt a lot from my travels what I need to focus on to make 2023 the best year so far. I don’t ever want to make these ‘goals’ unrealistic, but rather I want to set myself up for success and therefore I only ever focus on things I know I want to be able to achieve.

In this weeks post I use a special technique I found on instagram. I first spent sometime reflecting on my year and the lessons that I was taught from these struggles or highs. Secondly, I visualised my ideal year ahead- you must manifest what your desires are for yourself a year from now or even 10 years in the future as this will give you a clear path to guide you. Finally set yourself goals for the whole year; help creating a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle for yourself and your future.

Reflect:

This year started with a bit of a struggle. Studying for my exams and completing my coursework was definitely difficult but upper 6th was by far my favourite year at school. I got my A level results, which were not what I expected (due to covid over predictions). At the time all my hard work felt like it had gone to waste but I had to remind myself that I had got an unconditional offer from my top university choice for a deferred placement so really I couldn’t have had it better!

I’ve had such a packed year; from completing 6th form, to going on summer holidays in France and Greece, as well as going to my first festival. I really found my friends in London while also working which meant I was lucky enough to go to Paris in autumn with people I felt I could be myself. I have found friends that I wouldn’t have thought I would ever find and will always be there for me  even when we are thousands of miles apart.

In October I had the chance of a lifetime where I took my first of many trips during my Gap year. Mt friend and I traveled to Bangkok from London and spent the next 2 months going from Thailand to Cambodia to Vietnam. After Asia I booked myself a trip to Australia for some solo travelling and ended up extending the trip by a month before the year had ended. I have so far been to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth where I’ve met many travellers and old friends along the way. I’ve learnt more about myself, and I am still learning to be proud of my achievements and how independent I’ve become.

Visualise:

In my future for 2023, I want to carry on travelling until September. Specifically I want to travel around South and Central America and volunteer. As well as go back to Greece with some of my friends for a end of summer girls trip.

I want to start university positively and make a good impact on the school and my environment by making the most of my opportunities. Surfing and living a more relaxed lifestyle, with the Cornwall uni experience would be a great experience and change from London.

I want to become more independent at home- getting my driving licence, buying a car, getting accommodation and finding another job near university would mean I could continue with my currently habits and be self sufficient entering the new year.

Goals:

  1. Enjoy every moment
  2. Maintain a balanced lifestyle: eat well, exercise, focus on self love
  3. Keep active: take workout classes and walk daily
  4. Find hobbies that bring happiness
  5. Journal daily and blog regularly
  6. Take risks and enjoy achieving them
  7. Learn to take a break and relax
  8. Focus on yourself first- don’t compare to others achievements

Love,

Aria
