A Weekend at Boarding School

As I am close to graduating from school, in this post I wanted to celebrate my time at boarding school by sharing a post on my weekends in school. I have been a full-time border for a long time and only go home once/ twice a month- this has both taught me to fully enjoy my time at home by enjoying every small moment, as well as, learning to create a restful environment in my dorm at the weekend to help avoid feeling homesick.

Saturday:

8:45- Usually we get to wake up later on a Saturday so I will get up around 8:45 and get dressed into something comfortable. Then I will make breakfast and bring it back to my dorm to eat while watching some tv.

9:45- School has officially started (yes, I have Saturday school), but because I don't have lessons in the morning so I will usually try and finish off some homework.

11:00- This week I had to give a tour around the school to a family, open days usually happen every other week so if I don't have any tours planned I will continue working or go for a walk.

12:00- Then I have to get my files ready for my Philosophy class.

1:00- After my lesson, I will drop off my files and go to lunch in the dining room with anyone who is staying in. Sometimes I will go down to town for a lunch out if I don't feel like school food.

2:00- Around 2pm, my friend and I walked to the train station to get a train to a larger town around our area. This week our plans were to go to the cinema!

6:00- By 6pm, everyone who went out to town must be back to sign in. I was slightly late as our train was delayed so we missed the sign in.

6:30- Usually then there is a big dinner in the dining room, everyone who stays in has dinner together! However, as we were late we missed dinner and bought sushi on the way home.

8:00- Once we got back, I had a shower before the 'social'. A social is where everyone gathers in the common room for snacks, drinks and a movie or game (this is planned by house staff).

9:00- Around an hour later, when I get tired of socialising I will go back to my dorm and relax. My friend and I ate our dinner and caught up with Too Hot to Handle.

10:30/ 11:00- I usually like to get an early night as I have had a really long week so I try to read and turn lights off around 11pm.

Sunday:

9:30- Usually get up around this time in order to sign in with my matron and get some breakfast. Today I had a coffee and some mixed fruit (usually nothing is gluten-free).

10:00- I usually bring my breakfast to my room and watch Euphoria's latest episode.

11:00- After watching some of the recent episodes, I slowly start to get up and get myself ready for the day, usually, I call my family for a catch-up during this time.

12:00- Around this time, I will go for a walk around town, either with my friends or alone with my podcast. This week I went down with my friend to pick up some groceries.

1:00- After our walk, we headed straight to the dining room for some lunch, it is always a roast lunch! This is another sign in time for students so everyone meets up around this time.

2:00- After lunch, I try and get some work down so I am ready for the week. If I don't have any I will hang out with friends or bake.

3:30- The gym opens up for an hour so I will head down to sports for a workout

4:30- After a sweaty workout I will go back to my dorm for a shower- I make sure to always wash my hair on Sundays!

5:00- Sign-in is again in the dining hall for early supper, however, I am never hungry so I always take some in a Tupperware box of food to save it for later.

6:00- I like to take this time to catch up with friends and family before everyone comes back to school.

7:00- I usually then heat up my dinner and finish watching the remaining of Euphoria

7:30- I make sure to use some of my Sunday evenings to write my weekly blog post.

8:30-  At this time, the rest of my dorm is back from the weekend so we like to put on a movie and prepare lots of snacks!

10:30- Once the movie is over, I get ready for bed and finish the evening with reading and journaling.

Hope you enjoyed, a bit different to my normal posts but I hope I could share with you a little bit of my life at boarding school at the weekend.

Love, Aria
