Things to do in the Countryside
Over half term, I have been staying in the countryside with my family for a little holiday away. While I was there we did many different things that I wouldn't usually do in the city! This is also perfect if you live in the countryside and you're bored or if it is your first time and you don't know what to do!
1. Walking- Country walking is such a nice source of exercises but it's also beautiful and something you wouldn't have in the city - go for a walk and follow the yellow arrows with your dog or family and see where it takes you!
2. Visit a stately home- I love visiting stately homes, there are so many around the UK and it's so interesting to see the detail of the houses- I especially like to go at Christmas when they decorate the houses!
3. Bake or cook- Over half term I have been baking and cooking a lot, and have been getting so much better! It's so much fun and can be a perfect treat for an evening in - check out my cottage apple crumble for a great recipe to make when in the countryside!
4. Visit some antique shops- My family loves going to antique shops and markets to look at the beautiful and sometimes crazy items- you don't have to buy anything, it's just nice to look around!
5. Have a meal at a pub- When in the countryside one must go to a country pub, they use local resourced meats and veg which makes the food amazing! For lunch or dinner go out with your friends or family and find a new pub- it might be your new favourite!
6. Go to a farm shop- I love buying local food from small businesses, especially during this time it is vital to support them so it's a perfect time to go looking for your ingredients at a local shop!
7. Visit the National Trust gardens- Summer is usually the time to go but if there are some gardens still available to walk around go and visit them- They are so beautifully looked after and it's so fun to go to a cafe, get a coffee and walk around the grounds!
8. Go to a Car Boot Sale- Car Boot Sales are so much fun if you have never been to one before- there is so much to look through and lots to be found for amazing prices. You can just go to look around or you can sell some old things, either way, it's a fun way to spend the day!
9. Go to your local town and explore- It's the perfect time to get in your car and visit some small surrounding towns, go for lunch or a coffee or just go a look around- you never know what you might find!
10. Light a fire and read your book- This might seem like a simple one but it is the perfect place to just relax and do nothing! The city life is so hectic and you might never get the time for yourself so pick up an old favourite or a new book and get reading!
Hope this helps!
Lots of Love
